DJ Hire for Christmas Parties in Milton Keynes
Planning the office Christmas party, a festive get-together with friends or an end-of-year celebration? Prime Discos provides Christmas party DJ hire in Milton Keynes with the music, sound and lighting taken care of.
Christmas parties can be a very different crowd from a typical Saturday night. You might have several generations on the dancefloor, people who rarely go out together and musical tastes ranging from 70s and 80s classics to current chart tracks.
That’s where experience matters. With more than 25 years behind the decks, we’ll read the room, take requests and change direction when needed to keep the party moving.
Our complete setup includes your DJ, professional sound system and disco lighting, so you don’t need to arrange them separately.
Getting Everyone on the Dancefloor
The interesting thing about a Christmas party is that the guest list often isn’t one you’d find at any other celebration.
Colleagues who normally only see each other at work are suddenly sharing a dancefloor. There might be people in their 20s alongside people in their 50s and 60s, and everyone arrives with a different idea of what makes a great night.
So we don’t turn up with a fixed Christmas party playlist.
We might move from 80s and 90s favourites into UK garage, R&B, current chart music or big party tracks as the night develops. If one style is filling the floor, we’ll stay with it. If it isn’t working, we’ll change it.
And yes, we’ll play Christmas songs. Just not five hours of them.
From Dinner to Dancefloor
Christmas parties don’t always start with everyone ready to dance.
There might be a meal first, presentations or awards, drinks at the bar and that familiar period where everyone is waiting for somebody else to be the first person on the dancefloor.
That’s fine. There’s no point blasting out the biggest tracks while half the room is still eating.
We can start appropriately, build the music as the evening develops and turn things up when people are ready for the party properly to begin.
Once the dancefloor gets going, that’s when we can start pushing the bigger tunes.
Yes, Your Guests Can Request Songs
Workmates tend to know exactly which songs will get each other out of their seats.
We’re happy to take requests during the night, whether that’s a forgotten 90s track, some old-school R&B, UK garage or the song everyone in the office seems to know.
That doesn’t mean every request automatically gets played. We’ll use our judgement on when a track fits and whether it’s likely to work for the wider crowd.
The result is a Christmas party shaped by the people actually in the room, rather than a playlist decided weeks beforehand.
What Time Should the DJ Start at a Christmas Party?
It depends on how you’ve planned the evening.
If you’re having a sit-down meal, there’s usually little benefit in booking the main disco to start while everyone is still eating. An 8pm or 9pm start may make more sense, with the DJ continuing through until midnight or the venue’s finishing time.
For parties without a meal, you may want the music running earlier as guests arrive.
Before you book, check the venue’s access times, when the room will be available for setup and what time amplified music has to finish. Those details can make a big difference to the timings you actually need.
If you’re unsure, send us the schedule for your Christmas party and we’ll help you work out a sensible DJ start and finish time.
How Much Does a Christmas Party DJ Cost?
Christmas is one of the busiest periods of the year for parties, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights in December.
The price will depend on the date, how long you need the DJ and where the party is being held. Some peak Christmas dates may cost more than our standard party rates.
If your date is flexible, it’s worth considering a Thursday, Sunday or earlier date in December, particularly if you’re organising a work Christmas party.
You can see our usual rates on our DJ Prices Milton Keynes page. For a Christmas booking, send us your date, venue and timings and we’ll give you the exact price before you decide whether to book.
When Should You Book a Christmas Party DJ?
If you’re planning a Christmas party on a Friday or Saturday in December, booking early gives you the best choice of dates.
We have two DJs available, but there are only so many peak December nights to go around. Once both DJs are booked for a particular evening, that date is gone.
Midweek parties usually give you more flexibility, which can be useful for companies trying to organise an event around staff rotas or venue availability.
You don’t need to have every detail finalised before asking about a date. If you already know roughly when and where the party will be, get in touch and we can check availability.
